INNOVATE

Are you the kind of person who preserves used batteries with the belief that they would be of some use to you some time in the distant future? Are you one who thinks twice before disposing of ice cream cups? Are you one who hangs around technical festivals just to get a glimpse of the pretty thing at the Hospitality desk? If you belong to any of the above categories or if you think you are creative enough or if you want Rs.8000 in easy cash, Innovate is the event for you.

At Innovate, you are expected to design a working model of a scientific device using commonplace materials that you come across in everyday life. All it requires is application of the concepts of science that you studied at school. The materials, to be used, could be anything ranging from decks of cards to malfunctioning CDs. You may be expected to design a two-cylinder engine using a broken cassette (with the tape removed, of course). The event will be held on two days and winners will be selected from both the days. Materials will be supplied on the days of the event.

Three is a crowd. Two may be company but four signifies synergy. Teams consisting of four members can register on the day of the event. Prior registration is not necessary but to make things smoother for us, you can register at the KURUKSHETRA website.

ok.. i saw the first post.. now you know,what a good engineering education results in..

now, the funny thing is, i am the joker in the pack, as far as the committee is concerned.. you see, i am like the bachelor at a couples night.. ya, non engineer(called an Idiot, politely, behind the back), amongst the sea of 9. someones at CEG..

ok, the idiot part is a fabrication.. but the rest is true..

but, coming back to the main point, as i looked at the efforts that the team have put forth, till date, i am glad that someone has to play the fool.. know why? sometimes, a beauty mark is needed on the face, to make the rest, unblemished perfection.

now, there might be junta, who think that this event is only for those, who despair at the thought of a descent into the lower realms of the 8 in the GPA(oh, THE HORROR!!)..

actually, it's not that.. most of the events are focussed not so much on tech knowledge, but on creativity.. that doesnt mean i can suddenly enter and win contests( would be like ROCKY now, wouldn't it..).. but if you are a munna bhai B.E., you stand a decent chance of winning some of the 9 lakhs up for winning...

FINALLY

Well.. after months of contemplation, endless under-the-tree conferences, cyber meetings on messenger, a million posts on forums, countless digressing discussions, a few sleepless nights, a few billion cups of coffee at the food court, a few empty pockets and many smelly bus rides... finally the OFFICIAL BLOG for KURUKSHETRA is up and running.

For those uninitiated.. the not so brief explanations of two key factors comin up..

CEG

CEG aka The college of engineering guindy in chennai.. is one of the oldest and most respected engineering schools in the country. The old red building built over 200 years ago is often referred to as a monument of technical heritage. Digressing from the hyperbole, CEGians have made a mark (many marks if we might add..) in world engineering and indian progress. CEG is till date the biggest constituent college of the Anna University, Chennai, a world renowned technological university. Being the big brother of the 256 engineering colleges affiliated to Anna Univ, CEG is a titan of sorts in Indian Engineering Education.

KURUKSHETRA

Kurukshetra.. the culmination of 217 years of ruling the engineering empire of south india, Kurukshetra is a national level technical fest.. an event the scale of which has never been seen in Anna Univ history. It has all the things that a techfest should have..

All this and much more make kurukshetra the most awaited event of 2007.
